The home of land deity

Just found a small temple of land deity next to a three-side compound. It’s safely protected by the roots of Cinnamomum Camphora for the past decades. Derris trifoliate got a chance to climb up Cinnamomum Camphora one hundred years ago and become the land deity’s playground.

Cinnamomum Camphora used to be easily seen around Hakka people’s houses. Comphor essential oil can be extracted from leaves and trunks of camphor trees for medical purpose.
Derris trifoliates usually climb up to trees. Leaves are used to poison fish in the rivers.
The temple of land deity, Cinnamomum Camphora and Derris trifoliate can be found easily around the Hakka community. Hakka people have accumulated abundant knowledge of plants since they live in mountains most of the time. It’s amazing how plants play an important role in their life.
