Herbalist shop around the temple

In Taiwan, there are shops selling fresh herbs. The owners are usually herbalists. For example, Lung Shang Temple used to offer simple prescriptions to people at the time when seeing doctors was not affordable to most Taiwanese.

Gradually, hundreds of herbalist shops filled the streets around the temple. Nowadays,  the temple is not allowed to offer prescriptions anymore but these hundred-year old shops still help people who believe in our ancestors' wisdom.

I go to these shops to look for plants for my garden and hope to learn more from them.  Yes, very sad. A girl inheriting farmers' blood has to go to herbalist shops in the city for herbs. My ancestors could just walk out the door and find these herbs from the field or even behind their kitchen. Hope I can gradually let these old wisdom return to our life.
