竹葉堆肥??Bamboo leaves??

在我們家附近竹林頗多，幾乎家家戶戶旁都有一小片竹林。刺竹的竹籜可以包東西，而竹桿在普渡時可以豎立成燈篙。桂竹竹篾用來編斗笠，筍子可以鮮吃或是曬成筍乾。我家的老井據說因為靠近竹林所以能夠長年不枯竭。竹子在我們的生活裡扮演了許多不同的角色。
Bamboo forests can be seen everywhere in our small village. Bamboo sheath is used to pack food, poles are used to as beams in houses structures,  strips are used to make farmers' hats, and shoots are eaten fresh or dried. It is said that the water in our family well is always clean and running due to the bamboo forest around the well.

看到竹林下的竹葉堆，我不禁想在這層層的堆疊下是否有肥沃的腐葉土?

I wonder if the soil under the stack of bamboo leaves is black like leaf mold.

 將竹葉撥開，果然看到黑黑的土，肥沃嗎?不知道。

Wow! Dark black!!! Can I use it as compost?

 當下提了幾桶黑土鋪在預定試驗種植菜苗的菜畦上。

Anyway, just do it. I spread several buckets of black soil on the vegetable beds.

 黑呼呼的，真是惹人憐愛。

 最後再鋪上竹葉，免得風一大就把泥土吹走了。

At the end, the soil is covered with bamboo leaves for strong wind.
